If you make the effort to prepare food at home before your trip, it will save you time, money, and weight. You will also be more organized with your meals, give them better flavor and impress your hiking companions.

Making food at home can involve anything from baking goodies for trail snacks to preparing full meals that you will just need to heat up. Dehydrating foods at home is also a great way to reduce the weight in your pack.
